Saving Monkeys and Asian Elephants in Vietnam

Denver Zoo's Amy Levine travels to Vietnam this month to continue efforts to save Tonkin snub-nosed monkeys and Asian elephants. Levine has been working with members of two other institutions to learn more about the most imminent threats to the only known viable population of Tonkin snub-nosed monkeys in Vietnam's northern-most province, Ha Giang. She also will be finalizing plans to deliver a summer program that seeks to form a deeper connection between local people and the monkeys. Later, Levine will travel south to Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve to begin researching how Denver Zoo may be able to help with Vietnam's conservation action plan for Asian elephants. This will include addressing human-wildlife conflict and raising local awareness about elephant conservation issues.
