This crazy adventure for my whole family started on a sunny Sunday morning. We let our outdoor tabby cat, Lucky Connell, outside, as usual. We have church on Sundays, and when we come back, we normally let her in.
Except this Sunday, Lucky wasn’t waiting there for us to let her in. We called and called for her, but there was no trace of her. We couldn’t even here the jingle bell on her collar. My heart was broken. A whole night spent without her.
Then, on the second day of her disappearance, my mom got a call. It was from a neighbor’s roommate, Mark. He was moving to Arizona. The call said that Lucky had jumped in the moving truck, and survived a 15 hour trip to Phoenix, with no physical problems. It appears when Lucky saw the moving truck, the curious side in her had to explore.
But we had to get our cat back! So my dad, missing a whole day of work, flew to Arizona, to bring our little stinker back.
“It was crazy,” comments Mr. Connell, my dad. My brother, John Connell, says that it was miraculous because it never happens. My mom says, “ We try to keep her in, but when she sees a chance, she tries to dart out.”
And as for me, I’m just happy to have her back.
